Since applications of complex dynamics necessarily involve bridging gaps between abstract concepts, on the one hand, and the scientific disciplines, and engineering, medical and social fields where the applications occur, on the other, the Institute devotes special effort to facilitate cross-disciplinary contact and interaction in order to speed and facilitate progress. In particular, the theory of complex dynamical systems plays a central role in integrating mathematical developments with biological experiments.
